The MD 2 uses a bigger – 2.1 Tesla strong – neodymium magnet which s magnetic field is saturated and is homogenious in the area were the voice coil is seated. It has a higher lateral cut and is a excellent electrical conductor. By means of its low inner impedance in the area closed to the center all field lines are used for the transduction of force.
The diaphragm is able to make excursions of 3mm without leaving the linear working area of the magnet. The unit is constructed precisely to the
AER Formular. Resulting in a flat frequency response curve especially towards the highest frequencies and offers a high efficiency.

The high mass of the magnet stabilizes the sound stage extra. The MD 2b is geeignet in a ideal manner to serve as mid a nd high range unit and extra for the assembly in front loaded and backloaded horns as for example the AER acoustique and the AER acoustic. Efficiency dynamics and resolution are increased remarkably.

AER MD 2 B
The MD 2 B is a new development of
AER B stands for a bass here. Also in this loudspeaker a rare neodymium magnet is used, and in comparison to the MD 1 B it has got a slightly increased efficiency so that especially the dynamics and the attack is improved.
The magnetic field is very long spread and homogenous in the whole air gap. The pole plates are dimensioned in that way that the neodymium magnet is protected against stray flux current of the voice coil in a wide mode. By means of the larger air gap this chassis can easily make excursions of approximately 10 millimetres also when reproducing demanding program material.
The MD 2 B was purposely designed as a real full range drive unit for the reason of  producing enough base. The neodymium magnet has a comparatively smaller cross-section area and is a excellent electrical conductor by means of low impedance. All along the air gap length all magnetic field lines are used the transmission of force; also this unit is designed precisely according to the
AER Formulae and impresses by its flat response curve and the high efficiency. The high mass of the magnet construction is responsibly for the extra stability in the sound stage.
The
AER MD 2B is designated for the use in front loaded and back- loaded horns and in an ideal manner as mid & high-range unit. Efficiency, dynamics and resolution are furthermore improved. Also this unit is suitable to serve as a full range drive unit, its very strong and powerful bass loads suitable horn enclosures very well – the addition of a subwoofer is obsolete.
For that reason the MD 2B is able to reproduce impressive excursions in the bass-range. Build into the AER Acoustique or AER Acoustic you get an improvement of the level of low frequencies below 100 Hertz up to 7 dB. Listening to the MD 2 B is a pleasure: The very well balanced mid-range is spreading - beginning at lowest frequencies - to especially brilliant, soft and mild high and highest frequencies and then up to the wide supersonic-range.
Music gets a very full and plastic figure so as if you could touch similar tones with your hands. Listening to music will be getting an impressive experience.
The MD 2B sounds very full and warm, has very good fine- and grand dynamics, show very good resolution and much detail.
